Equal Opportunity Cell.

About the Equal Opportunity Cell

The main challenges faced by individuals perceived as disabled, or those with disabilities, or from minority communities, arise from disabling environmental, economic, and cultural barriers. Disability and minority status are therefore considered equal rights issues, comparable to other forms of unjustifiable discrimination and prejudices. Recognizing this, the PARASNATH JANARDAN GIRLS DEGREE COLLEGE established the Equal Opportunity Cell on 1th July, 2015, to address and mitigate these critical issues.

Objectives of the Equal Opportunity Cell:

  • Promote Inclusivity: To foster an environment of inclusivity and equality, ensuring equal opportunities for all students, especially those belonging to SC, ST, OBC, and persons with disabilities (PwD).
  • Eliminate Barriers: To identify and remove disabling environmental, economic, and cultural barriers that hinder the growth and participation of marginalized communities.
  • Empower Marginalized Groups: To empower students from minority and underprivileged backgrounds through skill development, counseling, and academic support.
  • Raise Awareness: To conduct workshops and awareness programs to sensitize the college community about the challenges faced by marginalized groups and the importance of equality.
  • Policy Implementation: To ensure the implementation of affirmative action policies and promote fairness in the admission process, resource allocation, and extracurricular activities.

Key Initiatives:

  • Scholarships and Financial Aid: Providing scholarships and financial assistance to economically weaker students from SC, ST, OBC, and PwD categories.
  • Accessible Infrastructure: Upgrading campus facilities to ensure accessibility for students with disabilities, including ramps, elevators, and assistive technologies.
  • Mentorship Programs: Establishing mentorship programs to guide students in their academic and personal growth.
  • Skill Development: Organizing training sessions to enhance employability and technical skills among marginalized students.
  • Grievance Redressal: Setting up mechanisms to address grievances related to discrimination or unequal treatment promptly.

Commitment to Equality:

The Equal Opportunity Cell is committed to creating a fair and equitable educational environment. By addressing issues of discrimination and prejudice, the cell plays a crucial role in ensuring that every student can achieve their full potential and contribute to society.
